Manish Narwal Wins Silver at Paris 2024 Paralympics

Manish Narwal was born on October 17, 2001, in Faridabad, Haryana, with a congenital impairment in his right hand. Despite this, he pursued his dreams. In 2016, his family introduced him to shooting, and he quickly developed a passion for the sport. Although he initially didn’t know much about the Paralympics, his talent was soon recognized.

Rising Through the Ranks

Coach Jai Prakash Nautiyal spotted Manish’s potential and guided him in para-shooting. In 2017, Manish made his mark at the Bangkok World Cup, winning gold in the P1 – 10m Air Pistol SH1 event. He set Junior World Records in both qualification and finals. Manish continued to excel, winning a gold medal in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol event at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and earning several medals at the Asian Para Games.

Government Support: Key to Success

Government programs like the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and Khelo India have been crucial in Manish’s journey. They provided financial aid for training and access to top facilities, including the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi. Manish also gained international experience in countries such as South Korea, Croatia, and France.
